Once you have transplanted your roses they must be watered thoroughly at the roots to help them take better in their new ground.
Don’t add fertilizer to soon because if you do this before the roots have had chance to settle you will damage the roots beyond repair.
If you think that your rose tree is wilting or does not look strong do not transplant it as it probably won’t have the strength to withstand the trauma of being transplanted just yet.
If your roses have the right environment in which to bloom they will be the crowning glory of your garden as they are one of the most beautiful aesthetic and aromatic plants you can own. Ensure they have a minimum of 6 hours of sunlight every day during summer by placing them in the right place, they need plenty of circulation and good quality fertilized soil. Ensure the ground is never waterlogged or you will drown the roots and try and protect your roses from freezing temperatures. Leave plenty of space for root growth and don’t allow your roses to be over shadowed by other plants in your garden.
You will enjoy the true beauty of your rose trees year upon year.

Generally speaking the best time to transplant roses is at a time when they are at their most dormant.
At the end of the winter season is the most dormant time in Northern climates, in warmer climates transplanting roses is better in late autumn or early winter.
If the roots of your rose tree are exposed then transplanting can take place anytime as long as the temperatures at the time are above freezing point, however, if your rose tree roots are exposed then Spring is actually the best time if possible to transplant the tree.
If you attempt to transplant a rose tree at 10 degrees below freezing your tree will not survive.
If you do carry out the transplant before the natural growing season there are a couple of tips you should adhere to.
Ensure the day before you are transplanting your rose tree that you thoroughly soak the roots to help protect them.
Make sure you prepare the ground you are moving your trees to and know that there will be enough light in that area of the garden to benefit the growth of your tree, nourish the ground with fertilser.
Once you dig the roots of your rose tree out of the ground transplant the tree immediately, the roots hate to be exposed directly to sunlight or dry air.

The latest fad to hit the gardening world is container gardening.
Container gardening means that you can add neat and tidy flowers to any area of your indoor and outdoor garden and patio in a huge range of vibrant colours and varieties from perennials to garden variety plants and herbs.
The use of containers can be vast; metal, ceramic, stone and concrete to match your décor.
Consider price and weight with your gardening containers. Plastic containers are more are more affordable and are found in a larger variety of colours.
Mix the regular soil with compost to give weight and density to the container you are placing your flowers in.
Concrete and terracotta containers will last longer than other containers, lasting several years.
Containers nowadays have been made weatherproof and sturdy to fit with market demands.
Most people will choose brightly coloured plants for their containers to brighten up their environment. If you choose to keep your container garden inside make sure you choose plants that can cope with growing in warmer temperatures.

Making your kids see gardening as a fun and enjoyable activity is not that hard. Most kids though do view gardening as demanding and boring so you need to make it a memorable occasion and make them want to help you rather than see it as a chore.
Firstly, you need supply your kids with a fun and safe toolkit for the garden, tools which are just right for those little hands and simple enough to understand.
Soon your kids will be happily digging away in the soil alongside you enjoying every minute!
Kids Gardening kits I would suggest are as follows:
1. Kids gardening book
2. Kids gardening gloves
3. Small watering can
4. Small light weight kids spade.
5. Simple plants for outdoor gardening
6. Simple seeds and instructions for indoor planting
7. Peat pots and starter seed kit
There are some delightfully entertaining gardening books for kids on the market today.
It would be a good idea to corner off a small section of your garden for your child where they can see the accomplishment of their own work in one spot. They can enjoy watching their seeds and plants grow.
If kids are supplied with their own gardening kit as suggested above they are more excited about taking on their own little gardening tasks.
If you don’t have a section in your garden to allocate to your child use a simple container pot for them to dig and plant in, encouraging your child to water the pot regularly.

Natural compost is one of the most beneficial things you can add to your garden soil.
It is well known fact that if you add earthy dark soil to your garden base then you will benefit from a healthy harvest in a relatively short time. Once of the best ways to improve your soil fertility stimulating plant roots is to add vermicomposting which is created in a worm bin.
Adding various organism i.e. worms aided by mites, bacteria and insects in soil will breakdown organic waste faster leaving a moist, crumbly light soil perfect for growing plants.
Shredding the leaves from trees will provide a natural source of carbon for worms allowing them to do their job. The only leaves that should not be used are live oak tree leaves and magnolia trees due to their high acidic value which is poisonous to worms.
When starting out with your compost bin place around one pound of works 6-8 inches beneath the soil before placing your organic material on top and keep the lid on the container. After a two to three day period you will create a fantastic compost to begin adding to your soil for fertilisation.
The more worms you have the better for the production of compost.

As expected this means using 100% organic products which are pesticide and chemically free.
Consider the benefits that organic gardening can give you and your family. Through rising prices of fuel and various food products, growing your own food will cost a fraction of buying it and ensuring you use organic methods means you won’t be eating pesticides or chemically treated foods which is more healthy for you.
To begin you will need to purchase organic fertilizers and bug repellents for your organic garden.
Ensure you have enough space and light to start your organic garden, by keeping your garden indoors you can control temperature changes and shelter your crops from the elements.
Choose your plants in accordance to the climate so do your research on what crops are best to grow in your area taking into consideration soil type.
Keep your organic garden well weeded watered regularly and use organic fertilization products to keep plants large and strong.

Keeping a great bloom of roses can be a complicated task because there are good and bad times to water your roses and certain things you need to do to maintain them regularly so they look their best.
The best time to water your roses is in first thing in the morning when the air is fresh and the temperature not too hot. Watering your flowers in the morning dew means they are refreshed with water before the mid day sun and the water more easily soak to their roots. If you have to water your roses in the evening because you do not have time in the morning make sure you concentrate on the roots because leaving water on the petals encourages mildew over night and other pets and diseases.
Roses need a lot of regular water, at least 2 inches of water a week but the soil and ground they are in will dictate whether you need less or more water. If you have done your hard work in the spring months by watering the ground which your roses grow in you will have ensured you have strong sturdy plants that can withstand the harsh heat in summer far better than a ground that hasn’t been prepared.
If you start to see the leaves on your rose tree turning yellow this means that the plant has been over watered and cannot breathe the much needed oxygen because of saturations.
Prune any dead leaves or flowers from your rose tree regularly which will keep it strong and means that nutrients go to new buds and shoots.
Roses need to have good drainage they do not like to stand in a pool of water.
Water the plant concentrating on the roots where development of the plant takes place. Using a drip feed is a good way of doing this without having to do it manually.
Spray your roses every 2 or 3 days with a fine water mist, a quick shower of water will help keep pests at bay, this is best to do in the mornings so you do not wet the petals and leaves in the evening leaving the plant damp and encouraging mildew to set in over night.

Once you have decided what you want growing in your garden and how you want your garden to look you can decide on the gardening equipment you need before you visit your online store.
For the beginner, essential gardening tools include a trowel for putting in smaller plants and shrubbery.
A shovel or spade with a round pointed blade for digging.
A garden fork for breaking up the soil before planting.
Purchase a pair of sharp pruners for over grown plants because pruning gives your plant strength and it will grow for a longer time once all the dead leaves and flowers have been removed.
Buy a hoe to help weed your garden. Removing weeds keep the nutrients going to the right plant or shrub you have on display.
A rake will keep you abreast with taking the dead leaves off your lawn allowing your lawn to breath and keeping it as green as possible. This is particularly important during the autumn months when surrounding plants and trees shed their flowers.

Pest Control for your Garden - Cutworm
These pests are moths as adults and caterpillars or larvae as young and come out at night they will attack seedlings killing younger plants which in turn will transplant to flowers and vegetables. If you have cutworm you will find plants lying on the soil severed at the stems.
Adult cutworms are moths, one and a half inches across their wingspans, as young these are a grey or brown coloured shiny headed caterpillar with a greasy appearance and live in the soil, the larvae is also grey or brown and a thick consistency living at the roots of your younger seedlings.
Eggs are laid within the soil or the grass and hatch within a week feeding on grass and plants for over a month. Adults emerge in last summer/early autumn and generate at least once a year, sometimes twice.
The best way to control these pets is to shield the steams of your plants with a collar which you can make yourself by cutting small strips of paper and wrapping it around the stems of younger plants above the level of the soil. Weeding around your plants keeps the moths from laying eggs nearby. Spreading diatomaceous soil around young plants also stops cutworm from laying eggs. Digging around the base of any already damaged young plants and applying parasitic nematodes into the soil will kill larvae. Apply this with care.
